TWO drivers were caught "racing" on the A27 - and they had their cars seized.

Officers in the Brighton and Hove police area reported and seized the cars after they were stopped.

One was found to have two bald tyres and no tax, while the second received a second "section 59".

Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002 allows an officer in uniform to seize and remove a vehicle that has been used in a "careless and inconsiderate" manner.

Sussex Road Police tweeted: "These two stopped for racing on the A27 in Brighton and Hove police area.

"One Speeding, two bald tyres and no tax equals reported/seized.

"Second speeding and second Section 59 equals reported /seized."

It comes after officers stopped a car in Hove after it was spotted doing over twice the speed limit.

Police slammed the motorist's behaviour as "completely unacceptable" as he sped to 78mph in Kingsway road.
