READERS have slammed a "sex for rent" advert as "disgusting" following an investigation from The Argus.

The paper launched an investigation after spotting an online advert aimed at women who had lost their jobs due to the “scamdemic” and were “unable to pay rent or even buy food”.

The man, who said he was aged 42 and called himself Gary, posted an advert saying he wanted someone to move into his family home in Worthing and have sex with him on a "regular basis”.

He said he wanted a “sex partner/girlfriend” to live with him and his wife, 37, while they “raise kids in Islam” and made it clear that the family “will not be getting any vaccine” and “are prepared to fight the government on this”.

The Argus went undercover posing as a 19-year-old girl in need of a place to stay and arranged to meet Gary. When we confronted him he claimed we were “the enemy of freedom”.

Reacting to the investigation, readers slammed the advert as "disgusting" and "not right".

Writing on Facebook, Stacey Bartlett said: "Bit disgusting but sometimes people are into this stuff but if its vulnerable homeless women desperate, that's not right."

Tammy Smith added: "That's honestly not the image I conjured up of a good looking athletic 42-year-old."

While another user, Emma McCarthy said: "How gross, his poor wife."

On Twitter, users reacted to the footage of the confrontation in shock.

Dr Natasha Kingston said: "Ugh this is horrific."

While another user, Nicola Benge, described the advert as "sickening".

Sean Macleod added: "Did he really try and argue that prostitution is a good thing?

"Of course prostitution is a bad thing, if people feel their only means of income is to sell their bodies in an unsafe manner and dangerous environments then it shows how as a society we have failed surely.

"Sex workers have the right to work, but women are often forced into prostitution in unsafe environments and exploited.

"Well done Argus."

The Crown Prosecution Service has said that “ sex for rent” could under certain circumstances amount to an offence under section 52 of the sexual offences act 2003.

Gary has not been arrested or charged.

The Argus launched an investigation after spotting the post online on the classified advertisement website Craigslist.

The website has been criticised before for similar adverts.
