A CYCLIST has been left with serious injuries after being hit by a van in Hailsham.
The 60-year-old was airlifted to the hospital after the incident in Arlington Road West at the junction with Caneheath.
Officers were called to the scene around 1.07pm on Saturday.
The man was airlifted to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton.
The driver of the van was uninjured and the road remained closed until 6.30pm.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "At 1.07pm on Saturday officers attended Arlington Road West at the junction with Caneheath following a collision involving a van and a pedal cycle.
"The cyclist, a man in his 60s, suffered multiple serious injuries and was airlifted to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton.
"The driver of the van was uninjured and the road remained closed until 6.30pm.
"If anyone witnessed the collision or has any dashcam footage, please email or call 101 quoting Operation Waterstone."
