Officers smashed the window of Kewbe Tomlinson's car in Crawley on January 6 after learning it was being used in the supply of drugs.

As they did so, the 36-year-old, who was sitting inside, began his futile attempt to conceal his crimes by cramming his drugs into his mouth.

Tomlinson has now been jailed after admitting supplying crack cocaine and heroin.

He was driving along Balcombe Road when police pounced, having been passed on information that his car was involved in drug dealing in the area.

Sussex Police say they chose to smash the window to "gain entry to the car and to preserve any evidence".

There, they found a panicked Tomlinson trying to swallow wraps of drugs to cover his tracks.

Officers stopped him and he spat them out, with new footage released by Sussex Police showing the drugs falling from his mouth as an officer appears to shake him.

When police searched his car they found 93 wraps of drugs which were revealed to be crack cocaine and heroin worth £1,860.

Inspector Johnny Hartley from the Sussex Police Specialist Enforcement Unit (SEU) said: "This is an excellent example of teams within the force working together to bring offenders to justice and to keep our communities safe.

"The tactical options the SEU use allow us to obtain the best evidence and this with the dedicated and thorough investigative work by the West Sussex Community Investigation Team, resulted in Tomlinson pleading guilty to the offences.

"The sentence imposed by the court demonstrates the seriousness of the offence and we will continue to tackle and target those who exploit the vulnerable and commit crime within Sussex."
