A YOUNG driver was blasted by his mum after smashing his car into a lamp post late last night.
The Vauxhall hatchback was left badly damaged with a huge dent in the front of the car following the crash in Westergate.
Police were called and PC Tom Van Der Wee of the Sussex Roads Policing Unit was among the officers to attend.
In an update posted on social media, he put the crash down to "inexperience and over confidence", adding that "thankfully, no one was injured but it could have been much worse".
"As well as being dealt with for careless driving, the young driver has to pay for a new car and higher insurance costs," PC Van Der Wee said.
"He also got a right earful from mum when she turned up."
