A woman has been charged after a Land Rover and jewellery worth hundreds of pound were stolen.

A house in Pottingfield Road, Rye, was entered on March 17 and a quantity of jewellery valued at about £300 was taken.

Sussex Police are now appealing for people to come forward with information on the incident as officers try to get to the bottom of the burglary.

Detective Sergeant Paul Elrick said: "If you saw anything suspicious in Rye that afternoon (March 17), or if you saw a green Land Rover being driven erratically in St Leonards on March 20, please contact us online or by calling 101, quoting serial 356 of 17/03."

Chantelle Williams, 41, unemployed, of no fixed address, has been arrested and charged with the burglary and with stealing a green Land Rover.

"She appeared in custody at Brighton Magistrates Court on Tuesday, March 23, and was remanded in custody to appear at crown court at a later date."
