An investigation has been launched after a report of a sexual assault last night.
A woman was grabbed and assaulted by an unknown man in Bewbush Drive, Crawley, Sussex Police say.
The force believe the attack was an isolated incident and officers are now carrying out house-to-house enquiries as they seek to identify the person responsible.
The woman was grabbed at about 8.15pm, but was able to break free and run to a place of safety. The incident was then reported to police.
Chief Inspector Shane Baker said: "Our teams will be carrying out fast-time actions including house-to-house enquiries as we work to identify the suspect responsible.
"We are treating this an isolated incident, however we will be carrying out additional patrols to provide reassurance to the local community."
Anyone who witnessed what happened or who has information that may assist with enquiries is being urged to report online or by calling 101, quoting 1495 of 27/03
