A COMMENT on the content of Wednesday's edition of The Argus.
A full-page Covid advert, paid for by Brighton and Hove City Council, stated "stay in your local area" but with no explanation of what that means in practice.
For example can all of its residents shop at the Asda superstore in Hollingbury, which is six miles from the city centre?
If that's "legal" then what about the ten miles they will need to travel if they want to buy, for example, some compost and seeds from the Hassocks Garden Centre? OK or not?
Fed up with graffiti-ridden Brighton and want to spend the day in Eastbourne, which is 20 miles to the east of the city? Again, OK or not?
Exactly where is the "local" boundary that Brighton and Hove City Council says, quite categorically, must not be crossed by any member of its population? I could be wrong but I suspect it hasn't actually got a clue and is simply
repeating the latest government-approved mantra.
