AN IMITATION handgun has been recovered by police.
Officers received a report of a man, with what was believed to be a firearm, in John Street just before 5pm on Friday.
The 44-year-old was detained by officers after he exited a shop in High Street, Bognor Regis.
He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearms with intent to cause fear or violence and remains in police custody.
No injuries were reported and police recovered an imitation handgun.

A spokesman from Sussex Police said: "Officers received a report of a man with, what was believed to be, a firearm in John Street just before 5pm on Friday.
"The suspect, a 44-year-old local man, was detained by officers after he exited a shop in High Street, Bognor Regis.
"He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearms with intent to cause fear or violence and remains in police custody at this time.
"If anyone has information to assist the investigation please report it online or call 101 quoting serial 1003 of 02/04."
