A PAEDOPHILE robbed three young girls of their childhood by repeatedly abusing them for his own sick desires.

Christopher Brock, 67, abused the girls over a period of 16 years in Sussex during the 1980s and 1990s.

At Brighton Crown Court a jury found him guilty of 20 counts of sexual abuse, which including multiple offences including indecent assault, acts of gross indeceny with a child, and inciting acts of gross indecency.

The victims, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, were as young as six years old when the abuse started.

One victim described the feelings of shame she felt and how the abuse still affects her today.

His Honour Judge Mark Van Der Zwart caged Brock for 13 years, and said because of the danger the defendant presents, he must serve at least two thirds of the sentence before he can be considered for release.

Jennifer Gray, prosecuting, said the crimes took place over a “considerable period of time”.

It was revealed that if one of the charges were prosecuted today, it would be classed as rape of a child.

The judge said that despite character references, they did not know Brock had abused the girls behind closed doors.

He said: “The jury found you guilty of 20 counts of sexual offences, many of them represent multiple incidents of sexual abuse.

“On most of the occasions your victims were just little girls. They were entitled to be protected from harm but instead you used them one after another to satisfy your sexual lust.

“You robbed them off their childhoods and of their innocence.

“It has affected their ability to trust adults and men, or enjoy intimacy with a partner without the intrusive memories of the abuse you caused them.

“You were unable to control your sexual urges despite the risk of getting caught. This heightened your sexual thrill.”

He said all three victims have suffered severe psychological harm and suffered trauma deep into adulthood.

The judge said the victims had to relive their ordeal during the trial and said: “Each was brave and dignified in the face of your cowardly denials and insistence that they were lying.

“Every word they said was true.”
