POLICE have charged a man on suspicion of a string of burglaries and attempted burglaries.

Officers were called on Saturday over a man acting suspiciously in Spring Gardens, Lewes.

When they searched the area they found a man in Lancaster Street who had electric equipment and keys.

This led police to Friars Walk, where two homes were burgled and other homes were also targeted.

There were signs of someone attempting to force entry.

Now, Sussex Police said an arrest was made, and a man was charged with nine offences.

John Paul Healey, 39, is accused of two burglaries and theft, seven attempted burglaries with intent to steal, and one count of assault by beating of an emergency worker.

He appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Healey, of The Forges, Ringmer, faces a new court hearing on May 4.
