TRAFFIC was brought to a standstill on a coastal road after a crash involving a car and a truck.
The A259 Marine Drive in Rottingdean was blocked both ways near the junction with the B2123 High Street following the accident, which happened at about 5pm, according to the AA.
There was congestion in the area from all approaches and heavy traffic along the A259 out towards Telscombe and west of Rottingdean, all the way to Brighton Marina.
Motorists were advised to take alternative routes and go over the A270 Lewes Road to the A27 and back down the C7 or A26.
Emergency services including police and ambulances were called to the scene and the road was cleared by about 7.30pm.
Sussex Police were contacted for a statement.
