Could it be warm and sunny enough for a picnic or barbecue this weekend?

As we start to feel the full effects of spring the weather will start to warm up into the middle of the month.

With lockdown restrictions easing on Monday, 12 April, we are now allowed to enjoy alfresco dining in pubs, restaurants and cafes.

This week's weather is looking mild and dry with highs of 12C and although this isn't prime barbecue weather, as long as you take a jacket you should be fine dining outside.

Today, the weather experts expect a mostly dry and overcast day although the sun will break through the clouds throughout the day - - it will feel a touch warmer than recent days with a maximum temperature of 13C.

Tomorrow will be overcast with the sun peeking through at point until mid-afternoon when scattered showers can be expected - highs of 10C.

As we look towards the weekend, the weather will warm up slightly reaching the low teens.

Thursday and Friday will be mild days with temperatures of 10C and mostly cloudy with some sunny intervals.

By 7pm on Friday the temperature should be around 9C although it will feel more like 6C so if you're heading to the pub it will most definitely be jacket-wearing weather.

Saturday will be the sunniest day this weekend, with a bright and beautiful morning and sun peeking through broken clouds throughout the day.

The Argus:

The weather for Saturday is looking bright and fine although it will still feel crisp.

There will be highs of 12C which will feel more like single-figure temperatures especially into the evening.

Sunday is another mild day with highs of 12C, there will be sunny intervals throughout the morning though this will change to cloudy by lunchtime.

Under the updated Step 2 lockdown rules, non-essential retail, personal care premises and public buildings such as libraries and community centres are all allowed to reopen.

Indoor leisure centres, including gyms, can welcome back fitness fans, and hospitality venues can serve people outside.

Zoos, theme parks, drive-in cinemas and self-contained accommodation may also return.
