A SPEEDING driver tried to blame his former employees to avoid prosecution.

Mukith Rahman was guilty of eight separate offences on the A259 Marine Drive in Brighton and at the Dartford Tunnel approach road.

The 49-year-old restaurant boss tried to blame four of his former workers as being the drivers of the vehicle.

When he was sent with a Notice of Intended Prosecution he replied nominating other drivers.

Those people could not be traced.

It was later revealed Rahman had done the same thing with two other former workers.

At Lewes Crown Court he admitted eight counts of perverting the course of justice.

Rahman, of Glynn Road, Peacehaven, was jailed for eight months for the crimes dating between January 2017 and April 2020.

Sussex Police said he was investigated as part of Operation Pinocchio which aims to boost road safety by stopping motorists giving false information to avoid prosecution, and to warn motorists caught speeding or avoiding red lights not to commit more serious offences.
