EMERGENCY teams were called to a car fire this afternoon.
Fire and ambulance crews attended Warren Road in Woodingdean shortly after 5pm.
The car was engulfed by flames and passers-by described seeing a cloud of grey smoke drifting into the air.
The road was blocked for a time as emergency teams worked to extinguish the blaze.
An East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "We were called at 5.09pm to attend a car fire in Warren Road involving one vehicle.
"Firefighters from Preston Circus attended. They used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire."
The road is now open and fire crews have left the scene.
