FOUR people wearing balaclavas stole a coat during an armed burglary in Bexhill.

Officers were called to King Offa Way around 10 pm on Saturday April 17, after four people wearing balaclavas entered a property with weapons.

Police attended the scene and searched the area but no trace of the burglars could be found.

However, while continuing their enquiries, a second report of a burglary was received at a property in Bohemia Road, St Leonards.

Police attended and arrested four people – two men nearby, and a man and a woman in a vehicle – on suspicion of aggravated burglary and burglary dwelling with intent to steal.

Several weapons were also found and seized by officers.

A fourth man was arrested on Monday, April 19. All five were interviewed and have been released on conditional bail while enquiries continue.

A spokesman from Sussex Police said: "Police are appealing for witnesses following an aggravated burglary in Bexhill.

"A coat was reported as stolen during the burglary, but thankfully no one was harmed.

"Police investigating the matter would like to speak to anyone who witnessed either burglary, who saw any suspicious behaviour in the area or who may have any other information.
