A TEENAGE yob launched a brutal attack on a man after losing his temper.

Ben Ethan Lecheminant rained a volley of blows on Simon Connell.

The 19-year-old punched him in the head and was “out of control” during the incident.

He admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm at a hearing at Lewes Crown Court.

His Honour Judge Martin Huseyin said the thug was lucky he had not caused more harm.

The attack took place in Brighton in February last year.

Lecheminant was spared a prison sentence because of his efforts to turn his life around.

Instead he hopes to start a photography course at college, the court heard.

Cerys Sayer, prosecuting, said the teenager landed several blows on Mr Connell during the incident.

The exact motive was not known.

Sarah Thorne, defending, said Lecheminant had a troubled background.

Judge Huseyin said Lecheminant, formerly of Oriental Place, Brighton, is now heading in the right direction.

Talking about an immediate spell in prison, the judge said: “From what I have heard, it would be counter productive, particularly given the defendant’s start in life.”

The judge spoke to Lecheminant and said: “When this happened you were pretty much out of control.

“Whatever sparked it, it may have been something provoked you, you know you went completely over the top. You lost control of yourself, not just losing your temper but also doing really dangerous things.

“Particularly the blows to the head, those could have landed you in trouble. It is a very dangerous thing to do.”

The judge said the teenager had shown a “willingness” to sort his life out and get more stability.

He said: “You have started to recover from the difficulties caused by others to you in your life. I hope I never see you again.”

Lecheminant was ordered to do 140 hours of unpaid work as part of a six-month suspended prison sentence.

He must also complete 30 rehabilitation sessions with the probation service.
