A COMEDIAN has started filming for the third season of a popular Netflix show.

Joe Wilkinson, who lives in Brighton, will reprise his role as Pat the Postman in season three of Ricky Gervais’s dark comedy Afterlife.

Ricky shared a selfie on Twitter in which he was stood alongside Joe, who is dressed in a postal uniform, on the fourth day of filming.

In season one of the dark comedy, widower Tony (Gervais) and Pat (Wilkinson) strike up an unlikely friendship as Tony struggles to cope following the death of his wife.

While Pat is still a bit of a nuisance to Tony during the show’s second season, the comradery between the pair grows as Pat helps Tony to deal with his grief.

Fans of the Netflix smash will be looking forward to seeing the relationship between the two friends develops in the third season.

Ricky Gervais creator of shows including The Office and Extras, announced Afterlife would get a third outing last year when he signed a deal with the streaming giant.

Series two of After Life, which stars Ricky as a widower plunged into almost unbearable grief following the death of his wife, launched in April 2020.

Ricky confirmed it would come back for a third batch of episodes a month later, when he wrote: “Because so many of you watched #AfterLife2 so quickly and made it Number 1 again, the nice people at @Netflix have suggested that I get off my fat arse and do another season. This is all your fault.”

Kerry Godliman, who plays Gervais’ on-screen wife Lisa, will return for season three.

The supporting cast will also include the likes of Roisin Conaty, Mandeep Dhillon and Penelope Wilton. Ashley Jensen, Tom Basden, Jo Hartley and Tony Way.

The Hollywood Reporter first reported Gervais’s Netflix deal and said it was a “multiple-year” contract which will see him making new scripted shows as well as stand-up comedy specials.
