A BRAND new McDonald's restaurant is set to open in Hollingbury next month.

Located beside Asda supermarket off Crowhurst Road, the fast-food chain is set to open on Wednesday, June 9, creating 65 new jobs.

It is part of a "significant" investment from franchisee Carel Venter, who will open two new restaurants on the south coast, including a restaurant in the Holmbush Centre in Shoreham.

Customers at the new Hollingbury store will also be able to use the My McDonald’s App to order and pay for their food ahead of time.

It sends a notification to the kitchen as soon as customers are within 100 metres of the restaurant, meaning all orders are prepared fresh on arrival.

McDonald’s franchisee Carel Venter said: “My team and I are thrilled to be opening a new restaurant in Brighton, bringing more jobs to the local area and with it, new training and opportunities.

"The new restaurant will create 65 new jobs with full time and flexible positions that can fit around family or study commitments.”

Once open, the new restaurant will have a close affiliation to the Ronald McDonald House Charity based in Brighton, which provides accommodation for families of children in the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital.

It comes as restaurants and hospitality venues across the country are preparing to allow customers to dine indoors for the first time this year.

On June 21, the last of the Covid-19 restrictions are set to be relaxed since their introduction last year.

In early 2020, McDonald’s closed its UK and Ireland restaurants as the country faced the start of the Covid-19 crisis.

Now, a number of safety measures have been put in place to help keep crews safe, including perspex screens and temperature checks at the start of each shift.
