A group of residents from The Elms nursing home in Bembridge have been getting arty, in memory of Captain Tom Moore, the Covid-19 lockdown NHS fundraising hero.

They have painted their hands for a giant garden mural, all for the Captain Tom 100 Challenge.

The idea is to raise cash, in memory of the army veteran who died in February.

Captain Tom Moore was later made a Major and was given a knighthood by the Queen.

He raised millions of pounds for the National Health Service during the coronavirus lockdown, in 2020.

Together the nursing home residents, many of who have mobility challenges and for whom getting into the garden is not an easy task, raised more than £100 for the Royal British Legion.

They painted 100 handprint 'leaves', on a mural on their fence and - as you can see from the video below - it was a job well done!
