A SINGER raised in Sussex had a disappointing night at the Brit Awards.
Celeste Waite, 27, was in the running for a hat-trick of prizes at the Brit awards 2021.
She was nominated for British female solo artist of the year, breakthrough artist and best album for Not Your Muse.
But unfortunately she left the ceremony - the first major music event of the year - empty handed.
She was unable to repeat her success of last year when she won best rising star.
The British female solo artist and album of the year awards ended up going to Dua Lipa, while Arlo Parks won breakthrough artist of the year.
Dua Lipa got the top prize for her album Future Nostalgia.
Despite missing out at the Brit Awards, Celeste has still had a fantastic year.
The singer was nominated for an Academy Award and Golden Globe in the best original song category for Hear My Voice, which was used in The Trial of the Chicago 7 film.
She also received nominations in two categories at the NME Awards.
Celeste was born in California and moved to Saltdean aged five.
She worked in charity shops and performed at pubs around Sussex before going on to become a successful singer.
