A CHILDREN's playground has been "extensively" damaged after it was attacked by vandals.

Fencing surrounding the Battle Recreation Ground play area, in Battle, has been ripped from the ground and destroyed in an attack over the weekend.

A gate was also ripped from its hinges and a new sign from "the very popular" cycle skills area was damaged.

It is expected to cost a "significant" amount to repair.

Sussex Police have been notified of the incident and Battle Town Council are asking anyone with information to come forward to help catch those responsible.
