THREE men have been charged in connection with the murder of a 24-year-old in the city centre.

Billy Henham was discovered at a disused building in North Street, Brighton, on January 2, 2020.

A murder investigation was launched and officers arrested four people yesterday after new evidence came to light.

Three men have since been charged with murder and will appear at Brighton Magistrate’s Court today.

They are:

  • Alize Spence, 18, of Makepeace Road, Ealing.
  • Lamech Gordon-Carew, 19, of Cheeseman Close, Hampton.
  • Gregory Hawley, 28, of no fixed address.

The fourth man was released without any further action.

Detective superintendent Alex Geldart, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts are with Billy's family and friends at this time.”

Police launched a murder investigation and closed off the area for several days in the wake of the incident.

In January, Billy's heartbroken family made a plea for witnesses to come forward, a year on from his death.
