RAIL services were suspended after a person was hit by a train on the line.

Emergency services were called over the incident between Barnham and Chichester on Saturday.

Services in West Sussex were suspended and rail replacement buses were put on.

A death has not been confirmed, but Southern Rail announced news online.

The operator said: "It is with great sadness that we report a person has been hit by a train between Barnham and Chichester.

"All lines are blocked between these stations whilst the emergency services work to deal with this incident."

Alternartive travelhad included the Stagecoach 700 bus service between Brighton and Havant and the Metrobus service between Worthing, Horsham and Three Bridges.
