OUR Trader of the Week today is Tom Cranenburgh, 39, a partner at GetAnOffer Estate Agency in Goring Road, Worthing. Tom was born in New Zealand but has been living in England for 30 years.

What does your business do and what is it called?

I work for GetAnOffer.co.uk, we’re an online estate agent. We aim to reduce the cost of selling a property and do it faster than our competitors. We’ve helped a lot of people with a variety of properties in a variety of places.

Where is it based?

We’ve been in Worthing since 2008 and then we moved to our new offices in Goring, not far away.

How many on your team and who are they?

I’m proud of working with eight remarkable colleagues. They help me deal with everything from our customers, updating the website, selling property and then getting the sales through to completion quickly and efficiently. They’re really great and it’s a delight to work with them and everything they bring to the business.

How long have you been going?

We started GetanOffer 13 years ago and have been going from strength to strength. We’ve seen our business go through recessions and now more recently a pandemic, I really hope there is nothing else around the corner.

How did the idea for your business come about?

During the last recession properties were not selling very well, it was very much the opposite of today’s market. We saw a gap to help customers sell their homes quickly and with less stress and so we’ve been building on the success ever since.

How have you coped/adapted during the pandemic?

It was tricky to ensure the safety of our staff and customers but we’ve adapted really well implementing virtual viewings and regular staff tests to keep the business busy and get our properties sold.

What would you like to tell people about your business?

The best buzz for me is when we sell a property for someone who is just fed up with traditional estate agents. We believe (in fact we’re sure) that there is a good buyer for every single home out there. It’s our job to find them.

What are your plans/hopes for the future?

The current property market has been very hectic and we’ve been really busy helping out customers find the perfect solution for them. I hope I can carry on working with some of the great people I’ve met and growing the business.

Anything else you’d like to tell us?

There are lots of estate agents out there – thousands in fact. The whole team feel honoured when someone entrusts GetAnOffer with their home. I strive to repay that trust.
