I HAVE just read the article Tory Talk, written by Steve Bell in Saturday’s Argus.

He wrote about the disgusting state of the entry in to Brighton via the A23 and Brighton and Hove in general.

How many letters have I had printed regarding this matter?

The only difference is I travel more often on the A27, both east and westwards. If anything, this route is worse than the A23.

What happened to the deep clean we were going to have to clean up our dilapidated city?

The graffiti was going to be removed. The streets swept and cleaned. What about the potholes which increase and get bigger by the day?

I had the shock of my life last week when I looked out of our lounge window... a real-life human being road/pavement cleaner was walking past with a trolley, brush and litter picker. I had to have a sit down as the shock was rather a lot for me to digest.

I had asked for this service in one of my letters and it was really nice to see it happening, but was it because I asked, or was it going to happen anyway?

We need this facility on a regular basis.

We also need the weeds removed from our gutters and pavements. Due to our age, my husband and I are unable to de-weed our section of the pavement any more.

It would also be good if the parking on grass verges could be stopped. Anything left on grass verges and used as a long-term storage facility should be removed as it makes the area unsightly.

The council need to spend our money wisely and not waste it on stupid, very expensive schemes such as the Valley Gardens alterations.

The council need to buck up their ideas/priorities and get a grip on a serious situation.
