A LOVE Island star is to test her nerve by taking part in a daring charity abseil challenge.

TV star Amy Hart is to abseil 120 ft down Peacehaven’s White Cliffs on July 3, 2021 in support of Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice in Angmering.

Worthing-born Amy, who is an ambassador for the charity, has already completed a 23-mile running and walking challenge from Worthing Pier to Brighton Palace Pier for the hospice.

The charity provides specialist palliative care services to 300 children and young people, from being new born to the age of 19, with life-shortening conditions.

Amy said: “The last year has been tough for everyone, but charities have really struggled with most of their fundraising events cancelled and charity shops being closed for long periods.

“I think it’s important to help when we can, and especially to support hospices who have been working so hard throughout the pandemic.”

Amy is a lifelong supporter of the charity and visited its hospice within a fortnight of leaving the Love Island villa in July 2019.

She says she was determined to be a “responsible influencer” and pledged to use her platform to talk to audiences about causes and subjects close to her heart.

She said: “I was honoured to be asked to become an Ambassador for Chestnut Tree House and St Barnabas House.

“There are lot of misconceptions around hospice care – for children and adults, but it’s so important as none of us know when we might need it.

“The hospices receive very little government funding, so donations, fundraising and support from the local community are critical.”

The Chestnut Tree House White Cliffs Abseil is taking place on Saturday 3 July 2021 and there are still spaces available.

It costs £40 to register, with a minimum sponsorship of £150 per person, which will help local children and families who need hospice care.
