ELEVEN ducklings have been rescued from near a level crossing in Chichester.

The fluffy birds were saved with the help of residents and officers from Sussex Police on Tuesday.

With mother nowhere to be seen, the ducklings were left in the care of wildlife charity Brent Lodge.

In an image shared on Twitter, the animals could be seen being carried in a blue box by a PSCO.

Writing on Twitter, Chichester Police thanked those who helped rescue the animals.

A spokesman said: "Eleven fluffy ducklings rescued from near the train gates at Chichester with the help of local residents who brought them into the front office.

"Mum couldn't be found so they've been taken to the excellent team at Brent Lodge who will look after them."
