BRIGHTON is finally in for some good weather - just in time for the bank holiday weekend.

After weeks of cold wind and rain, conditions are set to improve, with plenty of sunshine from Saturday onwards.

It will feel a lot warmer too, with temperatures hitting a comfortable 21C by bank holiday Monday, and forecast to continue to the middle of next week.

The Met Office forecast up to Wednesday, June 9, states: "Warm, settled conditions are likely to persist across many areas during early next week.

"There is the potential for outbreaks of rain to arrive across parts of the northwest on Monday but it is then very uncertain how far south and east more unsettled conditions develop during next week.

"Whilst there is still likely to be a good deal of dry weather, showers, which could be heavy, become more likely across the south and west during the latter part of next week.

The Argus:

"Temperatures most likely remaining around or above average.

"By the end of the period, a northwest-southeast split in conditions becomes more probable: more unsettled and cooler in the northwest, and drier and warmer in the southeast."

Looking ahead into June, the Met Office said temperatures are likely to be "close to or just above" average for the time of year.

A spokesman said: "This will feel warm compared to recent weeks.

"Of course, a short period of above average/warmer conditions can’t be ruled out as we head into the summer months, but if this does occur, at the moment it looks like it is unlikely to last for any sustained period of time, i.e. in order to reach 'heatwave' criteria."
