A YOUNG man has died in an early-hours crash on the A23.

The 25-year-old man from East Grinstead died at the scene of the crash on the London Road junction with Manor Royal in Crawley.

People were called at about 3.15am to reports that a grey Toyota Proace van had crashed.

The road was partially closed in both directions while officers conducted enquiries.

The force is now appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage following the fatal collision.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "A 25-year-old man from East Grinstead suffered serious injuries and sadly was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed what happened, or who has relevant dash-cam footage that may assist with enquiries, to come forward."

Anyone with information, or who saw the vehicle prior to the collision, is asked to report online or call 101, quoting Operation Lynton.

Sussex Police said the man's next of kin have been informed.
