A MEDICAL student arrested by police investigating a suspected acid attack on a woman in Brighton has been charged.

Milad Rouf, 25, of Newport Road, Roath, Cardiff, has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and administering poison with intent to endanger life.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Brighton Magistrates' Court today.

Officers responded to a report of a noxious substance being thrown over the woman in the doorway of a property in Steine Gardens around 4.20pm on Thursday, May 20.

The woman in her 20s, was taken to hospital where she remains with potentially life-changing injuries.

A spokesman from Sussex Police said: "Anyone who has information which could help our investigation into the assault should report online or ring 101 quoting Operation Overstone."
