AN AIR ambulance was called to the seafront after a man fell from the top of a fairground ride.
Emergency services were called to The Esplanade in Bognor at 8.45pm yesterday to reports that someone had fallen from height.
The man had fallen from about 20ft from a fairground ride, according to people at the scene.
He was taken to hospital by an air ambulance in a serious condition.
A spokeswoman for the South East Coast Ambulance Service said: “I can confirm we were called 8.45pm yesterday to reports of a fall from height.
“It was reported to us that he had fallen from a ride.
“Ambulance crews attended and were joined at the scene by the air ambulance service.
“A man with injuries including leg injuries was assessed and treated at the scene before being airlifted to Southampton General Hospital in a serious condition.”
A Sussex Police spokeswoman added: "Officers on patrol in Bognor Regis were made aware of a man having fallen from height at The Esplanade. The man was taken to Southampton General Hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening.
Enquiries are ongoing, and the Health and Safety Executive has been informed. Anyone who saw what happened is asked to contact police online or by calling 101 quoting serial 1390 of 31/05.
