Is sciatica a form of arthritis? It is giving me constant pain and I would really like to get rid of it.
No, sciatica isn't a form of arthritis. In fact, all that the word "sciatica" means is pain originating in the lower part of the spine, running from the buttock area and down the back of the leg. The commonest cause is a bulging disc in the lumbar region.
If ordinary medical treatment isn't working, I'd recommend you have some manipulation from a qualified osteopath or a chiropractor. There are many of them listed in the Yellow Pages.
