Brighton's beautiful Victorian bandstand is now in a sad state, following many years of neglect.
Here is a picture of it, probably taken in the Sixties, showing the bandstand looking lovely, although even then it was not being used because of traffic noise.
In the background is the Milkmaid Pavilion, more recently extended and transformed into Alfresco restaurant.
More prominent is the West Pier, which was not finally closed until 1975. Since then it has been largely destroyed by storms and arson attacks.
The good news is that Brighton and Hove City Council has said it will now restore the bandstand.
This picture is from the collection of Terry Sinnott of Hartington Terrace, Brighton.
