A MAGPIE had its feathers ruffled after becoming stuck down a chimney.
The trapped bird was discovered on Tuesday in Western Terrace, Brighton. The homeowners initially believed that a seagull had managed to trap itself.
They called the RSPCA to help the trapped bird and animal rescue officer (ARO) Chloe Wilson managed to reach up into the fireplace and grab it.
She said: "Thankfully, he was not too far up, and I was able to reach in and grab the poor bird which had become stuck in the chimney."
Luckily for the magpie, he managed to get stuck during a heatwave, so there was no risk of him being barbecued.
"After a quick check over revealed he was not injured or in too much of a flap, I was able to release him and send him off on his way again.
"It's always such a rewarding part of the job being able to release wildlife back into the wild."
The RSPCA has put out advice on what to do if you see an injured wild animal, or an animal in need of help.
