Following the incident, Sussex Roads Policing PC Pete May said it was a single vehicle crash.
He thanked motorists for their patience while the road was closed, and said it was important to get the right care for a three-year-old passenger.
PC May confirmed that both the ambulance service and the Kent, Sussex, and Surrey Air Ambulance had been called to the scene.
