A DOG owner was ordered to pay compensation when her rottweiler bit a man.

Laura Best was with her pet in Durrington when it was “dangerously out of control”.

The 44-year-old was brought before the courts and admitted one charge last month.

Worthing Magistrates’ Court heard how the incident happened on November 6 last year.

The rottweiler bit the man in Vancouver Road in Durrington.

Best, of Forrest Road, Colchester, admitted being the owner or person in charge of a dog which was dangerously out of control and caused an injury.

Magistrate Nigel Barden ordered her to pay £620 worth of compensation to the victim, whom The Argus has chosen not to name.

She was fined £200, and must also pay a £34 surcharge and £85 costs. No order was made about measures to control the dog, it is understood.
