STUDENTS at a secondary school have been told to stay at home after a positive case of Covid-19 was confirmed.
A number of students at St Leonards Academy in Hastings have been told to isolate for ten days after a student tested positive for coronavirus.
The University of Brighton Academies Trust, which runs the school, said about 15 students who had been in close contact with the person who tested positive are isolating at home and learning remotely.
The student tested positive over the weekend, the trust said.
A spokeswoman said: "We can confirm we have recorded a positive case of Covid-19 at The St Leonards Academy over the weekend.
"We are aware, for our parents, students and the wider community this news will be concerning, but please be assured we have taken steps to reduce the risk to others within the academy.
"As a precaution, those who may have come into close contact with the affected individual have been told to stay at home for a 10-day self-isolation period.
"The school remains open, and students should continue to attend as normal if they remain well."
