A MOTORHOME parked in a busy link road has been moved after an application to the court.

The vehicle had been parked in the Hangleton A27 link road "for months" and its owner was allegedly starting fires and cutting down nearby bushes.

Brighton and Hove City Council said it was left powerless to enforce Section 77 notices demanding it to move as no time could be found in the courts.

However, on Wednesday afternoon, a man was pictured clearing space where the motorhome used to be.

A council spokesman today confirmed that the application was finally heard by the courts.

Labour councillor Peter Atkinson, who was fielding complaints from residents, said: "I'm grateful to the council officers for all the work they put into this.

"I know it's been frustrating for residents, but the delay wasn't the fault of the council officers."

Council officials gave the owner chances to leave of his own accord. However, he reportedly reneged on promises to do so on several occasions.

The owner was first served a Section 77 notice in March and again in early April.

However, these notices are enforced by the courts, which deems them "non-priority cases".
