A RESCUE mission was launched after a man got into difficulty in the sea.
Shoreham Coastguard teams were called early this morning following reports of an incident at the Banjo Groyne in Brighton just before 6am.
Police also attended, as well as Brighton and Hove seafront teams.
Shoreham Coastguard said on Twitter that the man was safely recovered and transferred to an ambulance.
The team also reported a busy week, with more than ten incidents.
On Wednesday, Shoreham Coastguard were paged to assist lifeguards in Brighton, after a woman fell in the water and injured her back.
A Maritime and Coastguard Agency spokesman said today: "At just before 6am, Shoreham Coastguard Rescue Team and Sussex Police were sent to a report of an incident at Banjo Groyne, Brighton.
"South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended."
Sussex Police have been contacted for more information.
