ALBION striker Aaron Connolly’s former girlfriend is reportedly set to join the cast of Love Island.

Lucinda Strafford, who was in a relationship with the footballer for two years before they broke up earlier this year, is said to be taking part in the ITV2 dating show.

Prior to their break-up, the 21-year-old lived with the Brighton and Hove Albion footballer and the pair even created an Instagram account dedicated to their new home.

Yesterday ITV2 announced the first crop of contestants set to enter the Love Island villa, and while Lucinda was not included in the line-up, speculation is rife that she could join as a late arrival.

Lucinda was made redundant from her job as an air hostess at British Airways during lockdown, according to The Sun, and has since go one to launch her own fashion brand – The Luxe Range.

Her Instagram, which has more than 38,000 followers, is full of snaps of her visiting stunning destinations such as St Lucia, Mauritius and The Maldives.

She will hoping to follow in the footsteps of former contestants Laura Anderson and Worthing’s Amy Hart, who had both previously worked in the airline industry, and became fan favourites.

Laura Whitmore will return as the host of the popular reality series when it returns to screens on Monday, June 28.

It will be the first time the ITV programme has aired since last year’s summer series was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Hugo Hammond will be the first contestant to star with a physical disability alongside a civil servant, a model and a luxury events host.

Hugo, 24, a PE teacher from Hampshire, was born with clubfoot and previously played cricket for the England Physical Disability team.

He will be joining civil servant Sharon Gaffka, events host Aaron Francis, engineer Jake Cornish, fashion blogger Kaz Kamwi, model Shannon Singh and Nando’s waitress Liberty Poole in Majorca.

This year’s ITV2 show starts on June 28 at 9pm.
