A PERSON has been left seriously injured after a three-car collision on the A29 yesterday.

Emergency services including paramedics and police officers were called to the scene in Shripney Road, Bognor, at 5.50pm.

Officers closed the road to allow the air ambulance to attend the incident, which caused delays for motorists.

Pictures taken from the scene show the white car on its roof while glass and other debris litter the road.

Passerbys can also be seen taking pictures of the crash site behind a police cordon manned by dozens of officers.

One of the vehicles caught fire in the incident and one person has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Writing on Twitter, PC Tom Van Der Wee said: "On the scene with

South East Coast Ambulance Service, Air Ambulance KSS and West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service at road traffic collision on the A29 in Bognor.

"The road is going to be closed in both directions between McDonald’s Roundabout / Orchard Way roundabout for the foreseeable future."

A spokesman from Sussex Police added: "Emergency services were called to a serious collision involved three vehicles on the A29 Shripney Road, Bognor, at 5.50pm on Tuesday.

"One of the vehicles caught fire in the incident and one person has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"The road was closed for vehicle recovery work and traffic was diverted.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information about it should email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Operation Suffolk."
