A REALITY TV star announced he has split from his fiancée after proposing on a popular dating show.

Brighton musician Daniel Wakeford melted the hearts of viewers when he got engaged to Lily Taylor on The Undateables' in 2018.

But despite his romantic proposal on the Channel 4 show, the couple have now split and called off their wedding.

Daniel announced the news in a video to his 367,000 followers on social media site TikTok.

He said: “It’s Daniel Wakeford here. Listen, I just want to let you all know, because me and Lily are always being romantic for the last three years, but we decided to end our relationship together."

Daniel, 32 said he is read to meet new people and has confirmed he is back on the dating scene.

He added: "This summer, I might flirt with you, so watch out girls."

Daniel, who has autism, said is now focusing on his musical career, which has taken him to venues across the UK.

The star first appeared on The Undateables in 2015 and returned to the show three years later to propose to Lily.

Daniel asked her to marry him on Brighton Bandstand, her favourite place in the city.

And she said yes, to the delight of viewers.

Daniel serenaded Lily with a rendition of Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You before getting down on one knee to propose.

Fans of the show took to social media to express their delight, with many say it was their top TV moment of the year.

The proposal had been in the planning for a while, with Daniel spending the six months saving up to buy the “perfect” ring.

Daniel had enlisted the help of a choir for the evening and sent Lily a text message asking her to meet him at the Bandstand.

Following the song, Daniel said: “I love you, I always have and I always will. Lily, my darling one, will you marry me?”

The pair had their first date in a coffee shop a little over a year earlier, as part of the show.
