A FERRARI driver has been fined almost £300 after he was caught driving at almost 100mph on a major motorway.

Essam Fahim Barakat, of Church Road, Hove, was given five penalty points on his licence after he was clocked at 94mph on the M3 in February 2019.

The 58-year-old appeared at Brighton Magistrates' Court last month where he admitted breaking the 70mph speed limit in his Italian supercar.

He was fined £293 for the offence and ordered to pay £120 in other fees.

Supercars gaining police attention is becoming an increasing occurrence in Sussex.

Just days ago, a officers from Sussex Police said the driver was "foolish" to attempt to drive the orange McLaren 570s uninsured and whilst disqualified.

The luxury coupe, which has a top speed of 203mph, is valued at £150,815 new.

After being stopped, the driver also provided false details in an attempt to trick officers, police said.
