AIB was commonly used as a fireproofing material as well as for partition walls, ceiling tiles and lift shaft linings.

In a statement, Wealden Council said this type of asbestos should be removed and disposed of by a specialist contractor.

A spokesman said: “Someone is endangering their own health and that of others.

“The purple bags in the photos are from the Buckinghamshire Council area.”

People who know where the material has come from, or has witness flytipping is asked to contact the council on 01323 443322 or to email street.scene@wealden.go.uk.
