AFTER the heartbreak of a cancelled romantic getaway, a couple’s trip to Brighton ended in a fairytale flash mob proposal.

Shiva Hart and Eve Given were due to jet off to Portugal last weekend, but a shift to the amber list meant plans were put on hold.

Unbeknown to Eve, her partner of four years’ long-standing plans for a picture perfect proposal on their holiday were over.

But after some quick thinking, Shiva planned an impromptu trip to Brighton – a place close to both their hearts.

“After Portugal was put on the amber list, we had to change plans last minute and as we both love Brighton, we ended up going there for a long weekend instead,” he said.

“Then I had a crazy idea to do a flash mob.”

Shiva, from Hastings, said the pair were due to fly on his birthday - June 21 - with plans to propose on Eve’s birthday, June 26.

But instead, he popped the question in Brighton on Saturday - while a flash mob danced to Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars.

Shiva praised the power of social media after finding a group of dancers willing to perform at such short notice.

“I joined a few local dance group pages on Facebook, which isn’t my thing at all, and asked if anyone in Brighton could do this for me,” he said.

“Then a number of people came forward afterwards willing to share their videos of the proposal too.”

After dinner at The Salt Room, Shiva put his plan into action and got down on one knee next to Kings Road Arches on Brighton seafront.

The incredible moment was caught on camera with a crowd of more than 50 people watching and cheering along.

Eve, from Crawley, said the entire day was a “complete surprise”.

“When the song began to play, I thought that was weird as it was our song,” she said. “Then people began to dance.

“It was a great idea and great way to do it. It’s certainly something I’ll never forget.

“At first, knowing that people were watching I felt embarrassed, but it made the whole thing so special.”

The happy couple are yet to pick a date for their big day, but say they hope it’ll be as magical as their proposal.
