As England players - and fans - mentally prepare for the quarter-final clash against Ukraine on Saturday night, there is undoubtedly some Sussex residents looking to avoid all things football.

While many pubs across Brighton will be full to the brim with football fanatics, there are still pubs in the city not showing the Euros.

Whether it’s for a quite pint or a bite to eat, here is a list of five pubs in Brighton NOT showing the football.

Caroline of Brunswick on Ditchling Road

Leaseholder Cliff Barnes said Caroline of Brunswick can always be relied on to never show sport.

“If anyone's in the mood for a pint and a burger or hot dog without the rowdiness of a football crowd, then we're the place to be,” he said.

With comedy nights on Friday’s and Wednesday’s, the Ditchling Road pub is happy to host anyone looking for “football-free entertainment”.

The Greys Freehouse on Southover Street

Serving food until 9.30pm on Saturday, The Grey’s Freehouse could be the perfect spot for those looking for a dinner out in Hanover, away from the football.

The pub said while they might not be showing the Euros, a range of European cuisines are available on the menu, including seafood pasta and cuttlefish with chorizo in a salsa roja.

The pub also has a beer garden.

The Hope and Ruin on Queens Road

The rustic pub in central Brighton offers live music 365 days of the year.

Vegan cuisine is also on offer, alongside an offering of 100 per cent plant based drinks.

The Geese on Southover Street

Offering bangers and mash, real ales and a promise of no football, The Geese is a perfect spot to enjoy a quiet Saturday afternoon.

The pub said if football’s not your bag, then they are the place to be.

The pub is open from midday to 12.30am on Saturday.

Preston Park Tavern on Havelock Road

If locally sourced and freshly prepared food is more your thing, then perhaps the Preston Park Tavern might be a good option for you.

With food available on Saturday’s from midday to 10pm, the quiet pub in residential Brighton is perfect for a relaxing evening.
