ON THURSDAY, June 30, I attended the service for remembering the men of The Royal Sussex Regiment who died at the battle of Boars Head where hundreds of the regiment were killed.
A lot of these men were from Brighton.
Although I did not serve in the regiment I did serve in the Army so we are all in the same brotherhood.
The service was attended by former serving members of the regiment.
The only letdown was the state of the war memorial. It was covered in green algae. As a lot of Brightonians may have lost fathers and grandparents I should have thought that this council could have cleaned the memorial but as we know, this council have no respect for our Armed Forces.
