A PUB will be serving its own twist on half-time oranges during England’s Euro 2020 final clash against Italy on Sunday night.

As the England squad – and fans – mentally prepare for the nation’s first major final since 1966, pub landlords and staff are also making special arrangements of their own.

The West Hill Tavern in Buckingham Place will be screening the big match and offering punters vodka-soaked oranges at half-time.

Orange slices are often handed out to footballers at the midway mark of matches due to their vitamin C levels, which help with energy levels.

However, the West Hill Tavern, which is likely to be full to the rafters given its just a two-minute walk from Brighton Station, has put their own alcohol spin on the traditional childhood snack.

Across town, The Dover Castle in Southover Street will be offering more mainstream food options.

The bohemian style pub, which offers a beer garden viewing set up favourable to those who don’t mind sitting outside, will have Jason Bear’s full burger kitchen open for the night – something not previously done on a Sunday night

Ye Olde King and Queen in Marlborough Place, which was forced to close its doors ahead of England's match against Germany due to a Covid-19 outbreak amongst staff, is back up and running and bound to be busy.

The venue is operating on a first come, first served basis with no table reservations.

The pub is due to open at midday on Sunday.

While already fully booked for Sunday’s fixture, The Caxton Arms in North Gardens surprised their midweek regulars with a new bar worker.

Centre-back Harry Maguire has been picking up shifts (see picture) in the pub away from his duties of leading the England backline.

The pub is offering Sunday roasts from midday until 4pm, before the kitchen reopen from 6pm to 9pm.

There are meat, veggie, vegan and gluten free options available, as well as gyros, burgers and fish and chips.
