A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of GBH after a reported fight following England's penalty defeat in the Euro 2020 final.

Violence erupted in Brighton city centre last night after fans poured out of pubs and clubs an into West Street.

Raucous supporters were then caught on video scrapping at the road's junction with Cranbourne Street.

As many fans started packing into takeaways on the road, police were then seen in Duke Street responding to a reported fight.

More than a dozen officers intervened and were seen speaking to a man who had a bloody mouth.

A police spokesman said: "We responded to a report of an assault in Western Road, Brighton, shortly after 11pm.

"A 19-year-old man from Hove was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of cannabis.

"A 26-year-old man from Hove was arrested on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm.

"Both suspects remain in custody at this stage.

"A man sustained facial injuries but declined medical treatment.

"Officers responded to some other reports of disorder across the county throughout the evening, however there were no other significant incidents."

Police kept the peace in West Street as some fans were seen shouting and others let off flares.

Further out from the city centre at Norfolk Square, police were also seen dealing with an incident.

A man was put into handcuffs outside Small Batch Coffee while officers took statements from people at the bus stop.
